Join us for a fun day of interactive activities, drop-in workshops, and live demonstrations.

You’ll find plenty of great groups sharing ideas and tips on how to save money and live more sustainably. From a New-U Clothing swap shop to recycling and repair stations as well as information on wildlife and gardening to cooking demonstrations and pumpkin carving there is something for the whole family to discover and enjoy. There is also an exciting opportunity to take part in one of our upcycling challenges with cash and prizes to be won. See below for details.

Upcycling Challenge

Be inspired by the power of repurposing and get involved with our exciting new Upcycle Challenges. Simply turn any pre-loved formal wear or school uniform into something, anything, creative and new. There are 2 challenges open for registration. The Formal Wear Upcycle Challenge, with a 1st prize of £100 open to any individual looking to get creative and the Uniform Upcycle Challenge open to families, schools, and youth groups.

New-U Formal Wear Upcycle Challenge

Whether you’re a seasoned upcycler, budding fashionista or simple want to have a go and try something new, this event is for you. Registration is £5 (plus Eventbrite fees) and includes up to 3 free items of formal wear for you to work with as well as admission to the Eco Futures Event on 14th Oct. 

First prize will win £100! With £50 for 2nd place and £25 for 3rd

Entries must be dropped off  at New-U, Level 2, Castle Quarter, Norwich before Thurs 12th Oct or brough to the Eco Futures event and left with the judges no later than 11am on the 14th Oct.

 All entries will be judged at our ECO futures family fun day on Saturday 14th October 23.

Eco Futures Uniform Upcycle Challenge 

This is a free and fun activity, open to any families, schools, and youth groups in Norfolk. The challenge is simple, and the only rule is the majority of material needs to come from pre-loved uniform. Sew it, stick it or draw it. Anything goes!

You can enter as a school, class, group or family and there’s no limit to the number of entries. Everyone who takes part will receive a certificate and the group or school with the winning creation will be offered a free upcycling workshop delivered by New-U.
