Volunteer mentors

Volunteer mentors work with those aged 18+ who have finished their work experience to support them into positive outcomes such as volunteering, education, training and ultimately employment.

Mentors will be prepared to meet their mentee on a 121 basis twice a month either face to face or virtually for up to an hour for a period of 3 months or until the relationship naturally ends due to the young person moving into a sustainable outcome. Mentors will be expected to take on 2 mentees minimum at any one time. To get the most out of the role, we hope our volunteers will stay with us for a minimum of 12 months giving the necessary time, energy and support to meeting face to face and virtually with young people, staff and other volunteers (as appropriate).

Upcycling Craft volunteer

Love getting creative? Join New-U as an Upcycling Volunteer and help transform pre-loved fabrics into beautiful new creations! You’ll support our welcoming workshops, guide participants through fun craft activities, and play a hands-on role in promoting sustainability and community connection.

Sewing, knitting, crochet, macramé, and general crafting skills are all useful—but you don’t need to be an expert. We learn new techniques together, share ideas, and support one another to try out new upcycling projects. This is a rewarding role for anyone who enjoys making, teaching, or simply getting stuck in while helping others.

There are volunteer positions available at our Norwich or Cromer hub:
